The Curse of Dreamland

God has cast His curse upon the Land of Dreams. As a result, every baby born during the first week leading up to Dream Day—an annual commemoration in this country—is fated to die. Thus, each year the nation holds a mass burning of dream papers, a ritual that has, for the past 300 years, been recognized as an official national holiday. It remains unclear why God chose to curse this land, which is otherwise quite wealthy. Yet according to local belief, it was the cruelty and irrational tyranny of a former king—one who ruled with such savagery and disdain for reason—that invited divine wrath upon the realm.
